Interconnect Bypass Fraud

Fraud Type Name Description
Interconnect Fraud Interconnect Bypass (SIM Box) fraud detection The unlawful exploitation of a telecom operator's network resulting in severe damage to the CSPs' revenue is called interconnect fraud. Interconnection agreements exist between several operators outlining the routes and costs of terminating calls. If the call bypasses the established interconnection point, the operators are unable to charge a termination fee, thus losing revenue. This type of fraud is generally committed in association with other fraud types including bypass fraud and Sim Box Detection.
Mobile to fixed network Gateways abuse Post or Prepaid customers use competitive price plans and preferred number offers to build a mobile to fixed network gateway, thus avoiding interconnect fees.
