Name Description
Card Not Present fraud (CNP) This is when stolen credit card details are used to make a remote purchase. A CSP fraudulent transaction can affect merchants and mobile operators alike. Confirmation of identity is difficult when neither the card nor the holder are present during a remote transaction.. The genuine cardholder will remain unaware until billed.
Credit Card counterfeit A valid credit card will be cloned and used by a fraudster impersonating the genuine account holder.
Credit Card stolen See CNP. The fraudster impersonates a credit card holder to pay for a CSP's products or services. A stolen card can be used until reported and blacklisted. Online verification can detect it but there will still be a delay before alarms are raised.
